What Is Hanjungsun

Hanjungsun (韓貞仙) is a brand that puts fruit and yogurt inside chapssaltteok and serves each piece wrapped in colorful hanji paper. It is written in hanja as 韓貞仙. It started at the flagship store on the Seongsu-dong cafe street and became known through SNS, and newspapers report that it has established itself as a must-try dessert for foreign visitors to Korea. It now has stores in the food halls of Shinsegae, Hyundai and Lotte department stores as well as at Seoul Station, and long queues often form outside the stores even on ordinary days.

Prices are 3,500–6,500 won per piece, and gift sets are 33,000 won for the 6-piece set and 46,000 won for the 9-piece set — prices photographed from the Lotte World Mall store menu board in the first week of September 2026. To sample it at a convenience store, GS25 has been selling a frozen yogurt chapssaltteok for 3,900 won since September 3.

Fruit chapssaltteok — Dubai chocolate 6,500 won, choco strawberry 5,500 won, fig 5,500 won, gold kiwi 4,500 won, mugwort fresh strawberry 4,500 won, persimmon 4,200 won, Honeygold pineapple 4,000 won, whole tangerine 4,000 won, ang butter 3,500 won.

Recommended Menu for First-Time Visitors

The flavour reviewers praise most is the yogurt chapssaltteok. Across 135 reviews on the DiningCode pages for four branches (July–September 2026), blueberry yogurt is the one most often called the best, followed by peach yogurt and Shine Muscat yogurt. Newspapers, too, call the yogurt chapssaltteok Hanjungsun's signature. It is a chewy rice-cake skin filled with tangy yogurt cream; the in-store new-menu board lists three — Shine Muscat, peach and blueberry — at 6,000 won each.

Among the fruit chapssaltteok, reviewers often say the fig is fresh and was their favourite, and that the Dubai chocolate turned out tastier than they expected; ripe persimmon and whole mandarin come up regularly. Complaints that it is expensive come up at all four branches as well.

The store's own six picks — if you cannot decide what to order, simply follow the 6-piece gift set lineup: fig, choco strawberry, Dubai chocolate, gold kiwi, persimmon, whole tangerine. Because it is the combination the store bundles and sells as its signature, it rarely disappoints. The 9-piece set adds ang butter, Honeygold pineapple and mugwort fresh strawberry.

Dubai Chocolate — the most expensive item on the board at 6,500 won. At the Shinsegae Gangnam Sweet Park pop-up introduced by the Shinsegae Group newsroom on January 19, 2026, Hanjungsun also sold a Dubai chapssaltteok for 6,500 won.

Just one light bite — ang butter is the cheapest at 3,500 won, and whole tangerine and Honeygold pineapple are 4,000 won.

An early-2024 article listed chapssaltteok filled with persimmon, fresh strawberry, tangerine, Shine Muscat and pineapple, while the September 2026 menu board lists 9 flavors: Dubai chocolate, choco strawberry, fig, gold kiwi, mugwort fresh strawberry, persimmon, Honeygold pineapple, whole tangerine and ang butter.

Gift Sets and Packaging

Each piece is wrapped in hanji and given a name tag. In the display case, bundles of yellow, purple, orange, brown and pale purple hanji are stacked by flavor, and staff wrap the gift box on the spot.

Gift sets — the 6-piece set at 33,000 won contains fig, choco strawberry, Dubai chocolate, gold kiwi, persimmon and whole tangerine, and the 9-piece set at 46,000 won adds ang butter, Honeygold pineapple and mugwort fresh strawberry to that lineup. The menu board reads "We ask for your understanding that the gift set composition is difficult to change" — this is not a pick-your-own arrangement. Sets wrapped in orange or indigo silk bojagi are on display, and red bokjumeoni (lucky pouches) are sold separately at 5,000 won.

For foreign tourists — next to the register at the Lotte World Mall store there is a screen introducing the Lotte Department Store Tourist Membership card. It is a Lotte membership that gives foreign tourists a 5% discount for foreign tourists on purchases over ₩30,000, and the screen states it is issued at the department store 1st floor and at the tax refund desk on basement 1 of Lotte World Mall. This is Lotte's program, not a Hanjungsun discount.

Seongsu flagship 10:30–22:00 · Seoul Station 04:30–24:30 · Lotte World Mall 10:30–22:00 · Shinsegae Gangnam and Lotte main store 10:30–20:00 · The Hyundai Seoul, Hyundai Trade Center and Hyundai Pangyo open at 10:30.

The earliest opener is the Seoul Station store at 04:30. Shinsegae Gangnam and the Lotte main store close at 20:00, and the Seongsu flagship and Lotte World Mall close at 22:00.

2026 Pop-Ups and the Convenience-Store Version

Shinsegae Gangnam Sweet Park popup — Hanjungsun took part in the "Monthly Bakery Pilgrimage" popup at the Sweet Park on basement 1 of the Gangnam branch, introduced by the Shinsegae Group Newsroom on January 19, 2026, and released a Dubai chapssaltteok at 6,500 won. The same popup also featured stores selling a Dubai-style chewy cookie (Ogore, 6,800 won), chewy balls (Hokas Cone Shop, 7,700 won) and Dubai-style gimbap (Blend Door, 29,900 won).

August 28, GS25 presale — GS25 sold a limited 200 pieces each, 400 in total, at its Seoul Gangnam and Incheon Airport stores, and the prepared stock sold out on the spot. The newspaper reported that the product was planned as a way to widen the opportunity for foreign customers visiting Korea to encounter K-desserts by making use of the Incheon Airport stores.

From September 3, GS25 — "Hanjungsun yogurt chapssaltteok" at 3,900 won. Frozen, it has a texture reminiscent of gelato and sorbet, and once thawed it takes on the chewy texture characteristic of chapssaltteok. It is a frozen product made in collaboration with the dessert manufacturer Loromelo.
